At Svendborg BalletTeater, we believe that ballet should be for everyone – regardless of age, ethnicity, or financial background. Therefore, alongside our own productions, we offer the opportunity for our dancers to visit schools, nursing homes, dementia care homes, hospices, hospitals, community centres, and more.
Our outreach programme is supported by Svendborg Municipality and is based on the following understandings:
01.
Attending a ballet performance is a powerful, shared experience. When we laugh, feel moved or excited together with others, a sense of togetherness and community arises.
02.
Ballet is part of our shared cultural heritage – both locally and nationally. Participating in cultural experiences such as ballet performances strengthens the sense of belonging and awakens pride in one's own history and identity.
03.
Ballet – like other art forms – can mirror our society's values, conflicts, and dreams. Performances can spark reflection and conversations, fostering understanding and shared awareness.
04.
When ballet is made accessible to many – both financially and socially – encounters between people from different backgrounds arise. This breaks down divides and creates shared experiences.
A visit will be planned in consultation with you and adapted to your needs and circumstances. We offer, among other things:
Anette Søby, project manager at Svendborg Dementia City, after a visit.
